As we gear up to complete the final stage of the build-out in of our facility, we are pleased to announce that we have received several grants to help fund it all. Thank you to The Marro Trust, Ludlow Rotary Club, Vermont Arts Council, and The Windham Foundation for supporting the project - which will include flooring, doors, and new partitioning, as well as the expansion of the existing HVAC system and other energy efficiency measures. The goal is to make the spaces within the facility more accommodating for our current users, while also paving the way for future expansion in offering new media services (such as podcasting and the soon-to-be community radio station).
So, far we have raised $31,500 through grants, most of which is coming from a "Cultural Facilities Grant", recently awarded by the VT Arts Council. Our Executive Director Patrick Cody was recently interviewed by Vermont Public on a story about the grant program. The online version can be found here.
The total project is estimated to be $175,000 and, thanks to this new grant funding, we are now over the $100K mark. We have about $65,000 more to raise before we can move forward.
As many know, the build-out of our facility has taken time, as it was broken into many phases over more than a decade. In a way, we have benefited from this being a marathon rather than a sprint (in fact, it's been more like an ultra marathon). As technology has evolved, and especially with activity within the building ramping back up in the post-COVID period, new needs have been identified. This has allowed us to know adapt our plans around them. We are now turning the corner and can see the finish line, at long last. You can find a timeline illustrating our history and build-out here.
