Osher Lifelong Learning- Peculiar Pluto

Presented by Mark Breen, Director of the Lyman Spitzer Jr. Planetarium and senior meteorologist at the Fairbanks Museum, who provides information about the New Horizons spacecraft, which was launched in July 2015 and recently passed close to Pluto and its moons, sending new and useful information back to earth. The tiny spacecraft is continuing to the outer edge of the solar system, the Kuiper Belt, and is scheduled to arrive there in 2019. Breen will also address why astronomers are interested in studying such distant planets.
